Long ago, in another world...

An egg hatched. Out of it came the elder god, Alvin.
Then more eggs hatched. Out of those came the elder gods Mark, Justin, and Ashley.

In their search to create a perfect world, they created many, but failed.
The worlds they created were empty husks, mere shells of the visions they sought.

From their experiences, they finally set upon creating the world of Gielinor, otherwise known as GoAniScape.
Alvin created the stone upon which all else would form.
Mark created the water which would flow through the rivers and oceans.
Justin created the air through which voices would be heard.
Ashley created the fire which would burn passionately in people's hearts.

Then, with a wave of their hand, they created mortal life, and lesser gods to guide them.
These gods would follow 6 tiers, with the tier higher than all those being that of the Elder Gods.

Initially, there were the factions of Comedy World, led by the High God Brian.
There was Chibi Peeps, led by the High God Lumpkin.
There was Stick Figures, led by the Experienced God, StickMan.
There was Anime, led by the Young God, Not-Touma Kamijou.
There was Business Friendly, led by the Avatar of Hung.

To prevent an imbalance of power, the Elder Gods created their 12 artifacts, and hid them throughout GoAniScape.
The Stone of Hung. The Staff of Deaton. The Elder Kiln. The GoAniBlade. The rest are unknown.

Thus, the Elder Gods laid to rest under the world they created, to watch over it silently.

One day, those arised who did not follow any faction. They created their own factions, and battled among each other and the pre-existing factions, to ascend to godhood.
The VGCP, UTTP, IGUA, EDCP, and others, all in eternal war. They would be destined to follow a cycle of ascension and defeat, using the tools given to them by the Elder Gods.
